Linde Mann General This is not the St. Louis Southwestern Railway. The SSW went no further than the Silver Lake Yard in Downtown Shreveport. This is the former MK&T Line to Shreveport, Louisiana, which was sold to the YM&V (VS&T) during 1923. The LA&T (L&A) had trackage rights over this line to reach it's connection in Waskom, Texas. The YM&V owbned the line to Waskom, Texas. L&A used the line from Jordan Street to Waskon until 1956, when the new line Texas Junction to Karnak, Texas opened in 1956 in conjunction with the new Deramus Yard. From 1956 through about 1962, the IC continued to operate the line to serve it's customers, to Jewella Avenue to serve the Jewella Team Trak, Atlas Refinery and LOF Glass Plants. The line was cut back around the end of 62 or 1st of 63 to Mansfield Road. IC had customers from Depot Street to Bell Street on this line. The Royal american Shows unloaded the Louisiana State Fair Trains and reloaded from the YM&V line behind the Fair Grounds, until again the segment of line w 3/4/2013 1:34:33 PM
Linde Mann General was abandoned, then this took place at Bell Street, until around 1988. The ICG continued to service several customers on the segment from Van Loan Street to Bell Street. This continued into the purchased of the ICG line in Shreveport by MidSouth. After the KCS purchased the MidSouth, the timber overpass at Levy Street was removed around 2008, then the connection at Cedar Street was removed. This photograph is looking towards the West and if it were not for the overgroth of trees on the r-o-w, you could see the Mansfield Road. The last customer was to the left of the photograph, the former Frost-Whited Warehouse, became Murphy Bonded Warehouse of Shreveport. KCS did a brisk business until they decided no longer to serve this warehouse around 2008. 3/4/2013 1:44:48 PM
