Description:
High winds and severe storms pounded Converse, Louisiana on 5/3/2009. As a result, there was a prolonged power outage that knocked out the main power for all KCS grade crossing signals as well as block signals in some areas. This train is passing by two signals which would normally be illuminated.

KCS 4101 and 4110 operating in temporarily dark territory on KCS due to power outage
Description:
KCS 4110 and 4101 slowly move south at Converse as they approach a northbound train led by KCS De Mexico 4518 and 4528. The train is under orders to move slow due to power outages caused by a storm that roared through Sabine Parish early in the a.m. The crossing gates were on reserve power, and the block signals were dark.

Pair of KCS Belles and KCS De Mexico AC400's meet
Description:
Crews from both trains had just flagged that main crossing in Converse due to a major storm caused power outage. The Retro Belles are slowly moving south, while the northbound is waiting for the Belles to pass.
