North side of the pivot span of the Red River Swing Bridge
The bridge will swing open, as it was last opened for the Shreveport riverboats that are moored north of the bridge. The bridge is opened by hand. The operator walks out on the small wooden "plank" and up the stairs (notice there are NO rails on the stairs) to the top platform where the operator cranks are located.

Jim Dodds General Those stairs look really steep, Probably could be climbed like a ladder. I wonder if anybody has ever tried using it as a high dive or suicide jump? :/ 4/20/2011 3:14:22 PM
